We stopped by the Virunga Lodge which is a hotel near the mountains that overlooks Lakes Burera and Ruhondo. On our walk up to the mountain, we met children who loved in the nearby village. They were so sweet and very eager to practice their newly learned English on us, and we loved every bit of it (: Many of them asked us to exchange emails, which we did, to have a friend overseas, a pen-pal. The children are an amazing part of this town; it wouldn’t be complete without them. They’re always waving, smiling or talking directly with you. It’s an experience that is very humbling and heartwarming.
